Perspective Is The Typical Information-Age Casual Conversation Benefit

What should your default conversation topics be like? You certainly can small talk like weather, etc. You can geek out about your hobbies and passions. Of course there is interrogation, but that only does well if you are interviewing a job candidate or potential romantic partner – someone who has real interest in you, what you say, etc.

The Internet and cellphones take away any need for bulk information retrieval. Coaching and similar can be done, but those aren’t well suited to the usual casual conversation situation like waiting in lines, transport, walking on the street, etc. High emotional stress conversations are necessary in life, but you would like to limit them to the minimum amount of emotional impact in order to keep people in the rational zone.

What people can’t look up, and have a hard time working to understand, are different perspectives and ways of thinking about things. Systems of collected beliefs and experiences and how adding that to their knowledge base can change their way of thinking and actions.
